Ok, so the Buzzcocks themselves didn’t do anything, but one of their fans did… well, he didn’t really either. Last night the classic 1970′s punk band played for the first time in years at Irving Plaza, and we’re briefly interupted by yet another bomb scare. Police found two gas cans in a parked car in Union Square close to Irving Plaza during the set, and evacuated some buildlings in Union Square.
Turns out the car belonged to a Buzzcocks fan at the show who mows lawns for a living. He of course was not trying to blow up Union Square, as the gas cans were meant for his lawn mower. I guess when you compare this case to the cooler filled with water bottles, it doesn’t seem so stupid. I was down there last night and left around 10 o’clock, only about 15 minutes before police sealed off the area. You can read the full article here:
